Description:
Lödöse Museum
The Medieval Predecessor of Gothenburg
With us, you can travel back in time over a thousand years. We bring you close to prehistoric times and to the Middle Ages. What sort of houses did people live in back then? What did they have for dinner? How did they dress, and enjoy themselves? How were their boats and weapons made? The permanent exhibitions of this museum are a goldmine for anyone who wishes to know more about life in the days long gone and don’t miss our new exciting exhibition Images of our ancestors, which poses questions about our interpretation of history. We have a cosy café (with outdoor tables when the weather permits), a shop with books and historical souvenirs, jewellery and toys. How to find us?
We are located by the E45, 40 kilometres north of Gothenburg.
Advise along the way:
Make sure you pay a visit to the medieval Herb Garden at Lödöse museum, as well as the exhibition of historical wharfs and shipping! Children are welcome to the workshop Källan - The Well. There are several ongoing events and activities throughout the year. The museum conforms to accessibility standards for the disabled and has audio guides. We also have plenty of parking spaces which are free of charge.
